During the consultation module learners will discover connected ways of acquiring the new knowledge, skills, and attitudes that you will be able to apply in any new learning or life situation.
Learning Session Principles
Online Consultation Principles (OCP)
Learning session is designed based on three critical steps—framing (planning), the activity itself, and reflection (Dukehart 1994).
Planning-Student navigates our COMPASS and plans his/her own learning by choosing the success supporter based on his learning needs, student finalizes this search by booking a consultation session.
The second step is the learning during the OCS. The objectives for the learning are developed jointly by the student and the success supporter. The learning itself is driven by students learning needs and subject area success.
Learning session will conclude with reflection and debriefing on what was learned and will set the stage for framing the next related activity of future steps for achieving the learner’s goal for the subject area success.
Reflection can be done
- At the end of the session-Discussion with learner that include an analysis of what went right, what went wrong, and what was unexpected
- After the session ends- the success supporter fills out the OCS Feedback Form with a short guide to help the learner process what they have learned as well as to raise questions for the future.
